Imran Khan reports 'Prison Bharo Development'
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan recently marked the first anniversary of his election victory with a call for a “jail bharo” moment to register public protest against the country’s corrupt political system.
Khan urged Pakistanis to stage peaceful sit-ins and protests against the country’s powerful elite and their privileged families, who have profited from decades of looting the nation’s wealth.
Khan argued that the country’s powerful oligarchs had created a "mafia" that had entrenched itself in the government and had made corruption and nepotism the norm. He said it was time for the people to join forces and reclaim their right to rule.
He also warned that if people did not take action, the economic problems of the country would only get worse.
Khan underlined that the “jail bharo” moment was not an attempt to bring down the government, but to force the government to take action against those who have looted the nation and failed to bring good governance and prosperity.
He also emphasized that the protests should remain peaceful and that the people should not be provoked into violence.
