Erdogan recognizes tremor help issues as loss of life passes 15,000
ANTAKYA: The number of fatalities from the earthquake tremors that hit Turkey and Syria this week topped 15,000 on Thursday, prompting fury from many who were disappointed and saddened by the slow response of salvaging organisations.
On a visit to the disaster area on Wednesday, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, who is contesting a political decision in May, assured that nobody would be left penniless that tasks were now operating normally.
People were trapped in misery by piles of rubble where loved ones could still lie blanketed while searching for temporary shelter and food in the bitter winter weather across a large portion of southern Turkey.
By Thursday morning, Turkey's confirmed death toll had risen to 12,391. According to the board Authority,
